When your body uses the nutrients in foods, a series of chemical reactions occur inside your cells. As a result, energy is released. Metabolism is the chemical process by which your body breaks down food to release energy. A calorie in a unit of measure for the amount of energy released when nutrients are broken down. Proteins Proteins are responsible for the construction and repairing of bones. Protein also provides Amino acids. Water Water helps maintain Homeostasis and to filter the body. IT also carries other nutrients cells. Your body is 60% Water. Fats Fats provide essential energy for the body and help vitamins absorb into your body.
