7 Siler Lael Siler Zepelin 4 AP World History 26 May 2011 Globalization: Changing the Nature of Nations Globalization has radically shifted from concept to reality. The nature of imperialism transitioned from neighboring groups conquering one another for territorial expansion to entire nations competing for global economic, political, and cultural power. Today, the exponential growth of technology and industry is creating one globalized economy. This global economy has found a way to transcend the boundaries large hegemonic powers historically could never unite, changing the nature of nations.

This is a condensed information sheet of the major trade routes in world history. The Silk Road -Main commodities that were traded on this route were: Silk Porcelain Tea Weapons Metal work Spices Gold Silver Amber Brassware Jade Sugar Horses Cotton Salt Incense -The Silk Road was created during the Han Dynasty. The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire used this series of trade routes to trade. -The Silk Road was safest during the time of Mongol Empire. This time period was known as the Pax Mongolica in the 13th century. This led to the spread of ideas and cultures throughout East and West Asia. The Indian Ocean Trade -South Asia traded with East Africa

The Ottoman Dynasty survived many periods of change caused by internal problems and by the power if European adversaries. The Ottoman Dynasty grew because of its founder Osman, control of the strategic link between Europe and Asia at Gallipoli, and the creation of an army that took advantage of Turkish skills and the military possibilities presented by gunpowder.
