Chapter 4 Notes Ancient Iran, 1000-486 BCE Overview Iran is the ?Land of the Aryans? It links western Asia with southern and Central Asia. In 6th Century BCE, the Persians created the biggest empire the world had yet seen They had distinct cultural elements, along with new forms of political and economic organization. Our info on Ancient Iran is through biased Greek documents. Geography and Resources Iran has geological boundaries on all sides of it except the northeast. Nomads of Central Asia attacked from this direction. Iran has high mountains at the edges, salt deserts, and mountain streams, and marshes Ancient Iran never had a dense population Density was proportional with the water in and hydration of the environment

Iran Historical: Entered globalization in 1906 as they created a constitution that developed democratic principles. 3 Consequences: 1. Growing disparity between urban and rural areas. 2. Cut back in government spending and education along with health care. 3. Limited evolution since the colonial period. 3 Barriers: 1. Lack of new improved technology. 2. Too dependent on their natural resource wealth. Reducing Barriers: The now have a desire for political unity. FDI: Shell gas is involved in negotiations between Iran and Chinese oil companies. Total Oil gas company has complete control of the oil fields in Doroud and Balal. Corporations Contribute: Yes, they do because they are looking for cheap labor and Iran is managing to keep them by maintaining low standards for laborers.

Courtney McCoy Dr. Kyler English 112 12 October 2012 Change in Iranian Film after the Iranian Revolution While attending a Catholic school for twelve years, censorship was common to have ideas agree with the Catholic faith. Every year, my high school held touch of class day where the seniors produced a video. The principal and president approved the final cut of the video. When scenes were shot for the video, teachers oversaw the process. To a greater extent, this same process developed in the Iranian film industry after the Iranian Revolution in the 1970s. After the revolution, Islamic leaders censored movies to fit an Islamic mold that would not corrupt viewers and the role of women changed to be in the background of films or eliminated all together.
