They understand that over the course of time things change, impacting future actions. 2. Geographers organize space by place. All places on Earth have special features that distinguish them from other places. Geographers characterize place by human and physical characteristics. They divide space into different sections, such as continents. They then divide each new place into smaller subdivisions, such as countries, states, and then cities.
