History of early Virginia is difficult, as there are few documents, and they aren't always trustworthy. ? Virginia was America's first representative assembly? Brought tobacco to England en masse? Smith was generally pretty good with telling the truth, but his perspective is definitely his own, so that has to be kept in mind ? Was Smith completely truthful?? Most powerful person in region? Powhatan was the leader of a confederacy of Indians-Algonquian Indians? Virginia Company was rough in the beginning. ? 75k pounds invested to send 2k settlers. ?
