The Roman Ara Pacis Augustae, or Altar of Augustan Peace was created from 13-9 BCE. This marble building celebrates Augustus? establishment of peace. The symbols on the building represent a time of peace and plenty. This altar served as the expression of religion to the Romans and also represented the great military dominance in the Roman Empire. The figures inscribed on this altar all signify Roman piety. Some of the engravings on the side of the building portray August performing sacrifices to god. Other figures depicted on the side of this amazing piece of artwork consists of people using animals as sacrificial offerings, and others garnishing laurel circlets which signify victory in the Roman Empire.

To the production seamstress, For my production of Julius Caesar: On Ice, I?ve designed very detailed costumes for Caesar, Antony, Octavius, Cassius, Brutus, Calpurnia, and Portia. These costumes have been very thought out and have great meaning behind them, so please make note of what each character wears and what scene they wear it in. Caesar: For Caesar, I?ve designed an orange toga with strips of red drapery and a gold cuff bracelet. The red signifies power and ruthlessness while the orange represents his tragic flow, his over confidence. This outfit will be used when the crowd is praising and coaxing Caesar to take the ?crown? so MAKE SURE his cuff is gold, because it represents his success. Cassius:

The Roman Mediterranean Empire (753 B.C.E. ? 600 C.E.) Farmer Republic (753-31 B.C.E.) From the Beginning Ever since the beginning of the Roman Empire, there has been a developing form of republic. The first king of Rome was Romulus. As Rome was more and more occupied, the Roman Forum (civic center) that was once a swamp was drained in 600 B.C.E. Afterwards (507-31 B.C.E.), the Roman Republic was founded. This was the basic Roman government other than the imperial leaders. However, the main power of Rome lies with the Roman Senate, an advisory council for the king and for Roman republicans.
