Samoa: 1898 Germany vs US over Samoa- There was a Samoan crisis and conflict between Germany, USA, and Great Britain. During the Samoan Civil War. 1899 US vs Germany Split- The conflict was ended in the Tripartite Convention in 1899. The Convention stated that the Samoan archipelago would be split between German and American sides. German Samoa eventually became a republic while we still hold American Samoan. This shows that there future would be controlled by Western Influence. German side was eastern and American side was western. Yellow Journalism: Joseph Pulitzer- William Randolph Hearst-
