Threats faced by the Byzantine Empire were Arab conquests, Seljuck Turks, Slavic invasions, conflicts between pope and political leaders, the Goths and Huns to the north, Sasanids to the east. 2.) How was the western half of the Roman Empire different from the eastern half? The western half of the Roman Empire was different from the Eastern half because they had less Christians and less imperial elites and trading. Eastern spoke Greek, Western spoke Latin. Eastern was the Byzantine empire, which continued Roman imperial rule and tradition that was absent in the west. 3.) How the Byzantine Government change over time?.
