Economics is not required at my college (Southern Illinois University Carbondale). However, it is an option for one of the core curriculum courses.

My suggestion is to look at the website of the college(s) you want to go to and see if they require the class or not.

Well, I would say take it and pay the money because if you pass it, (which if you buy a Barron's review book and use it along with your text and notes, you should pass with flying colors) you won't have to take the course in college and wil save much more money than you spent to take the test in the first place

That is true gurl, if you take the course you will be saving a ton of money because you will be getting college credit for anywhere between 15% to 30% of the cost.

Another option is to take it at your local community college using the joint enrollment program. Some schools may not offer it, and it may not be right for everyone, but it is something to consider. Plus, you just have to pass the course at the college rather than score high on one test during a stressful time of the year. It's most likely going to be easier to get the credit, plus it's free. You also get a taste of what college is like.

Yeah, pianogirl, I think that's what I should have done when I think about it now. It'll take stress off of you, that's for sure.

Not to mention that a community college is cheaper then taking it at a university.

Yeah...I'dve had to take it at the local university, but oftentimes they'll have special rates or deals for high schoolers. They want to suck us (and our money) in as soon as possible...

Dang you are lucky! In my school you have to take U.S. Government and Economics together. ><
