AP Economics: is it worth taking?

I'm currently signing up for classes for my senior year and I'm debating whether or not to take AP economics (micro or macro). Does anyone know how the test is? Or how it compares in difficulty versus AP US Gov.? The easier of the two I'm going to take first semester so it will count towards my GPA but I don't know if it's worth taking it second semester because it won't count towards my GPA, so I'd only take it unless the test wasn't too difficult so I can get college credit.

Thanks for the help!

I'm taking it right now, and it really and truely a ver dry class. My teacher trys to make it iteresting, but if I were you, I'd only take one semester. Also, the thing about Econ in the AP test is that, unless you plan on majoring in the social sciences, you would probably never have to even take the class in college. And since this class is difficult to teach, most colleges only will accept an AP score of a 5 (4 if you're lucky). Again, I'd just take the first semester if I were you and not worry about the AP test.

okay...what about me...I'm either going to take both semesters or don't take it at all...

What do you suggest? I don't plan on going into social sciences, but I find it interesting...

You know you're an AP student if...

you think studying is fun.
you constantly find yourself saying "we had homework?"
everything you know about sex, you learned in english class.

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

If you like it, go for it. I really disliked the class, but that's just me. If you have reasons for taking it aside from the credits earned, ie you like it, who am I to caution against? Have fun!

I am currently taking the class. It was considered a social studies course so I figured I could take it and do well. Boy was I wrong.

There are many formulas and the class is very boring and dry. But it is likely you will have to take it in college so you may as well attempt to get the college credit (6 credits if you take both exams and do well).

Good Luck!

Form what I was told, you shouldn't have to take the class in college. It's only for political science majors. But I could be wrong, too.

Actually it's getting more and more common for government and economics to be required classes. It was at my community college and it is here at Georgia Tech as well I believe.

But the real question is if it's worth the time and effort to try for it and pay the money for the test when there's a good chance you won't get credit and have to take it again in college (if that is the case), or just wait and possibly not have to take it in college thus saving you double the time; especially if you're not going into political or social science as a major...

If you're only going to be taking one semester of the class, unless you are constantly studying the material, there's no way it could prepare you for the Econe AP test. But that's just my opinion, anyways...
