Chapter 9 Quaker anti-slavery society: 1775 - Founded by Quakers of Philadelphia. Helped to jumpstart the idea of the abolition of slavery in society. Abigail Adams: ?Remember the Ladies??1776, Virginia?? ?Abigail Adams states that many women, if not given political rights, were to be very angry, even to lengths of rebellion. Republican motherhood: the idea that a republic should care for and work toward the common good as much as a mother would for her children. Women were then elevated to the role of ?keeping the nation?s conscience?. Opened door for education opportunities for women in order to become better wives and mothers.
