The representation of the human figure can reflect the central values of a culture. In this instance, two artworks particularly stick out in terms of cultural values. The first is a marble sculpture from the Greek Period, Kroisos, found in Anavyssos and made around 530BCE. And the other is a hand-painted ceramic Mochica Portrait vessel from around 400CE. Both of these artworks express an individual value system from each of their cultures.

Chapter 12: The Crisis of the Later Middle Ages Prelude to Disaster Agricultural Crisis In the early fourteenth century severe weather damaged crops, leading to famine (1315–1322). Poor nutrition increased susceptibility to disease and facilitated epidemics (for example, typhoid). Congress Drafts George Washington The Second Continental Congress selected George Washington to head the army besieging Boston. Bunker Hill and Hessian Hirelings From April 1775 to July 1776, the colonists were both affirming their loyalty to the king by sincerely voicing their desire to patch up difficulties while at the same time raising armies and killing redcoats. In May 1775, a tiny American force under Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold captured the British garrisons at Ticonderoga and Crown Point. There, a store of gunpowder and artillery was secured. In June 1775, the colonists captured Bunker Hill. The British took it back with a large number of soldiers.
