Pilgrims" or Separatists- Puritans who rode the Mayflower to New England to escape religious intolerance in England. Established Plymouth colony. Grew corn and became self sufficient: individual farms. Governed the Wampanoags Indians using firearm and threats. Separatists wanted to completely separate from the Church of England. Established Salem, Mass. As the Massachusetts Bay Company. The colonies were based on religious ideals.
