Chapter 6-Religion Key Issue 1: Universalizing Religions *3 main universalizing religions are- Christianity, Islam and Buddhism Christianity- *Has more then 2 billion adherents--> more then any other religion *Predominant in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia Branches of Christianity- *3 major branches-- Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox *Roman Catholics are 52% of Christianity *Protestant are 21% of Christianity *Eastern Orthodox are 10% of Christianity *22% of Christians belong to churches that do not consider themselves within one of the 3 branches above *In Europe, Roman Catholic is the dominant branch in the SOUTHWEST and EAST *Protestantism in the NORTHWEST *Eastern Orthodoxy in the EAST and SOUTHEAST
