Making War and Republican Governments 1776 ? 1789 In 1776, Fredrick County of Maryland demanded allegiance to the American cause. The same went for Farmington, Connecticut where Nathaniel Jones and 17 others were arrested for remaining ?neutral?. Patriots controlled most local gov?ts and were extremely touchy/fiery when it came to things about human rights/feelings. American Armies were made out of a huge variety of people.
