Summer Work

Jul 10, 2009

Schools today have realized that in order to steal the souls of children, they need to destroy their summer vacation. With that thought, they created the most dreaded of all, summer work. While it used to be a book and maybe a paper over the summer, it has now gone berserk. Personally, my teachers assigned me :
 A packet of math problems for a test on the third day of school
 Five chapters of textbook readings, along with 5 one paragraph questions and 1 five paragraph question
 A summer book

It isn’t terrible, but I’m also busy. With a total of one month of vacation and Eagle Scout project, not to mention hanging out with friends, I’m just jammed. So, I’ve made some plans for surviving this apocalyptic summer.

First, buy a calendar and make plans. I know, it is torture to count your summer down, but you need to know. See where you are free from vacations and such for a few weeks in a row, and plan on doing work. Second, don’t sleep in. Getting 12 hours of sleep a day is great, until you don’t finish your work. By sleeping for around 9 hours, you get the rest and can still do work. Try doing your work at times when you aren’t busy, like in the morning. By the afternoon, you’ll usually start to do things again. A few hours in the morning can save your summer from total ruin. The last little piece of advice I have is to keep the last 2 weeks of August free. We are all going to procrastinate. It’s a given. So, if you’re last two weeks are open, you can get the job done in time if you really must. So, even if school never seems to end, you can still try and enjoy the summer.
