Pride and Prejudice ?It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.? Pride and Prejudice depicts a society in which a woman?s reputation is of the utmost importance. In this time period, a woman was supposed to act a certain way, and if she failed, her reputation would suffer drastically. Reputation is defined as the overall quality or character as seen or judged by people in general. Jane Austen?s Pride and Prejudice depicts a society in which a woman?s reputation is of the utmost importance, reputation does not only ruin her life, it is also very devastating to the family as well.
