The tale involves a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Croom, who live in the outskirts of Wyoming. One day, Mrs. Croom makes a haunting discovery about Mr. Croom while he is not home. What she finds reveals that the seclusion Mr. Croom lives in has a destructive effect on his behavior.
