Chapter 19 Study Guide National Assembly: Created when grievances were made to the king about the criticisms of the Estates General. The king desired to separate the Third Estate. As a result on June 1st the Third Estate with some nobles and clergies created their own legislative body. Tennis Court Oath- A famous oath in the National Assembly to continue to sit and stay a member until they had given France a constitution. Named when the National Assembly found themselves with no place to have a meeting and decided to settle near a tennis court.
