Sikhism is a monotheistic religion founded in the fifteenth century Punjab on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and ten later Sikh Gurus. The principal belief of Sikhism is faith in Waheguru. The Gurū Granth Sāhib Ji, which, along with the writings of six other Sikh Gurus, has works of many devotees from diverse economic and religious backgrounds. Most of the sikhs live in Punjab, India and Punjab, Pakistan. Sikh teaching emphasizes the principle of equality of all humans and rejects discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, and gender. Nanak's teachings are founded not on a final destination of heaven or hell, but on a spiritual union with God which results in salvation.
