[Weight of 1 kg object is approximately 10N] Force is a vector quantity. Ther are two types of forces. a) To apply a force on an object, another object must touch it. [You can not pull or push something without touching it.] Such forces are called ?contact forces.? Ex: Contact force 1: Tension Force (tension) ?on the box?, ?by the rope?. Not by the boy ? rope is touching the box, boy is not touching the box. [You can not pull or push something without touching it.] [Rules about tension: Tension is always along the rope, a rope can not push, only pull.] Ex: Contact force 2: Friction (Ff)
