help about senior schedule

Hey all!
I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm having trouble deciding two of my periods

1. Economics-- we only have regular (Sem 1)
1. US Government-- we only have regular (over summer so free period 2nd sem)
2. AP English Language
3. Newspaper
4. Physics regular (no honors in our school-- and I want to stay away from AP)
5. French 4 Honors or History in Film
6. AP Calculus AB or AP Stats
7. None
8. AP Chemistry at a community college

As for math, I'm doing okay (not-so-great first semester-- C+) in Precalc Honors right now, but I have the worst teacher in the school who is definitely harder teacher than the other Precalc Honors teachers (who both teach Calc AB and BC also and give easier tests). Do you think that because my tests are harder and I spend more time studying in Precalc Honors (again I have a bad teacher), I will be better prepared for Calc AB? If I take Calc AB, I will have a phenomenal teacher but a really tough subject. But, if I take AP Stats, I will have a mediocre teacher (not terrible but not great either) and a decently easy subject. What should I do?

French 4 Honors is an easy class and I can easily get an A and so is History in Film. I like both of those subjects and both the teachers are amazing (I have them for APUSH and French 3 this year). I could take French 4H and get the extra GPA point, but on the other hand, History in Film is quite interesting, has no homework except for occasional assignments to watch a certain movie outside of class. What exactly should I take?

What do you want to major in in college? Do you know which schools you will be applying to? If so, find out what AP credits they will take and how much college credit each score will be worth.

Do you want to take French in college? If so, I would suggest continuing to take French. Also, do you think your french skills would be able to get you to a passing score on the AP exam? You know you don't have to take the AP version of the class in order to take the exam correct? The same applies Economics and US Government.

Taking the AP exam without taking the class will certainly be more work, but it could definitely pay off in the end.

hmmm i dont plan on taking french in college. but as you say, i might consider taking french 4 H and trying the ap test on my own... i could skip to 5ap if i wanted to because i got an A+ first semester, but im a bit reluctant about it...

in terms of math, im considering a major in the medical sciences/psychology in college. ive heard that colleges look down upon not taking calculus, no matter your major. is that true? if so... then i might just take calc. but if it really doesn't matter, i might just go ahead and take stats...

If you could get AP credit for French, that would most likely get you some college credits for that. Going into college with credit is awesome. I got to take cooler classes a lot sooner than the other freshmen. Also, most schools give registration preference based on how many credits you have so when you are competing with your entire freshman class to register for your spring courses, it helps to be towards the front of the line so that you dont get stuck with 8am classes.

I took Calc and Stats in high school so I'm not sure what to tell you there. That might have more of an impact if you were going into a heavy math related major. Not sure to be honest
