For the Americas, you could say a political change was power not concentrated in one ruler to a monarchy (the cause would be population increase).
For Africa, I guess for political you could say that when Muslims traded with the indigenous people (like Mali), they adopted many of the Muslim political and economic ideals. I can't think of any social changes... sorry!
