Becoming a doctor

Dr in Medicine, being a family physician, I heard it meant studying countless hours, always being on call, and not ever having a life other than books...Anyone say otherwise...

well, yeah, it takes a lot of studying, but my mom's a family doctor and she loves it! so you just have to decide whether it's worth it.

You got to figure out wether the good outways the bad. You're going to spend a lot of time preparing and eventually at that the job. HMO's and insurance companies are also a factor you might want to take into consideration. Also the three year residency period and just the competitiveness of getting into medical schoo. Student Loans.. haha I've always wanted to be a MD practically my whole life.. now I hear stuff like this and it kinda scares me but hey there are always downsides to each job.. Nothing is ever too easy. and worse comes to worse, you decide that you don't want to be a MD, there's always other routes like PA, Audiology, Optometry, Dentistry, Nursing... Pre-med is just a time period where you take some pre-reqs do a couple of internships, and really figure out wether you want to do it and you can always switch your major in college..so don't be scared to get into what you had your mind set up already.. and my cousin's a MD who works in a clinic.. weekends and evenings off - no on call.. She said that it's a growing trend to have one MD who is alwalys on call and if your just a regular MD, your off the hooks.. The growing trend of PAs also help..
