AP Classes: Do they do any Justice in College?

Is there anyone that did not get a 3 or higher on the AP test, and "retook" the class in college? If so, did the AP Class in High School help any for the class?

I'm a little bit worried for the AP tests, this is why I ask...I don't really study the material all that often but I make decent grades.

Thanks

I'm glad you bring this up as I'm having apprehensions about the AP Exam as well. I know that if you get a decent score, *cough* 4.0 *cough*, you earn college credit so that's why I'm even considering taking it even though I know that History is my most horrible subject.

Yes, it helps a ton! I received a 2.0 on the APUSH Test simply because I have a problem with standradized test like that. Knew all the information, but just didn't test well, but that's another story. Regardless.

I am a college freshmen this year. I've taken History 110: 20th Century American History and am currently taking Political Science 104: Intro. to American Government & Politics. To be completely honest with you, I have not learned too much new material in the class. I recall it all from APUSH. I just finished my midterm in Political Science 104 less then 10 minutes ago and can honestly say that the majority of my recalling information came from APUSH. Not that I have a bad professor for the class, just that APUSH helped me that much.

Also, it helps for other courses too. APUSH will help you tune your studying, work on time mangement, and get used to writing taking test in situations that you have little amount of time. Also, it will help you write essay's alot easier and alot quicker. Also, it will help you learn to write an essay on a subject that you have very little knowledge about, and come out with an A. :D or maybe that's just me :D lol

In short, yes, it will help you.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Don't let the 2 fool you. Just because you receive a 2 on the exam does not mean you are not knowledegable about the subject matter, atleast in my case. Trust me, I could talk your head off about history. lol

Hey! And my teachers have all told me, that even if you don't pass, you'll have all the knowledge as What has said. And my calculus teacher wants all of us to take the BC exam whether we are confident or not because 1. You only need around 29 out of 108 points to make a 3 and 2. Collegel professoras are typically not as in depth and caring about you as high school teachers are. And you are only in the class in college maybe three times a week so you go much faster. There are great benefits with taking APs. Also, I have friends who have told me that their AP classes really prepared them for the course work involved in college.

I agree with the point you guys mentioned about the retaining the knowledge and preparing you for the work load of college classes. And do keep in mind that when you do start classes, at many big universities freshman classes are in the hundreds and are only one semester long. As a result it's better to get in the habit of actually working for a change instead of sailing through your classes.
