How to define a classic.

Alright, so my English teacher gave us a project to do. And she said we have to define a classic (I'm reading the Da Vinci Code) and pick out passages from the book to apply to my definition of a classic book.

Can anyone recommend good sites where I can find some good definitions of a classic?? Please help.

hmmmm....that is a really good question. I know how to define an epic, but not a classic, sorry...
I'll try to find out though...
