How being Optimistic, can get you to be succesfull in the long run.

Jun 25, 2009

Were you ever faced with a difficult situation? For example
you chose a really difficult class in school and you felt like you
couldn't take it anymore. You felt like a trapped butterfly that
couldn't extricate itself from the tight cacoon. Well that was
exactly how I felt when I decided to take two very hard classes in
highschool, (ontop of the 9 other ones I was taking.) I'm not saying
that you shouldn't challenge yourself, because the best feeling is
when you make an arduous effort, and finally succeed.

Rewinding a couple of months back, I was a very anxious teenager who
was always looking for an adventure. Little did I know that my
greatest adventure would be school, where I would unravel the many
fascinating complexities that surrounded me. The way that I was able
to enjoy the challenges that were thrown my way was, by being optimistic.
I know that it sounds a little corny, but studies have shown that
Optimism: "Inoculates against depression , Improves health,
Combines with talent and desire to enable achievement.". There is also
a whole entire study in Psycology which is called "Optimism psychology".

The best way to be Optimistic about classes is to actually start liking
them. You might be wondering How exaclty Do I start liking a subject
which I clearly abhor (the word is a little too extreme). Well
here is the answer, try to connect the subject to your everyday life.
I'm sure all of you like jokes, why don't you look up funny jokes on
the subject and say them in class it will not only create laughter, but
it might ignite a flame of affinity for that particular subject. Also do
not hesitate to watch video clips which may include lectures, and
songs on the subject.

As time progressed I was not only enjoying the subject, I was actually
understanding it. By being optimistic, I was able to focus on the hour glass
that was half full, and not half empty!
