What clubs you should join

There are many, many clubs and organizations in high school. Therefore, it can be very hard to decide which clubs to join. It is very important that you join clubs that you are interested in and will do for your 4 years in high school. When you are picking a club to join, think about your interests and goals. If you are good at sports, try to join the sports team. If your good at math, join the math club. If your good with speaking and debating join the debate team or something similar. Ultimately, you should join the club that best suits your interests and strengths.

If you are interested in community service, you should join clubs like Key Club. Better yet, you could form your own community service club. If there are no clubs that interest you, then you can form your own club. Listen to announcements so you will know the deadlines for forming clubs. If you have good grades and have already done community service, you should try to join NHS, national honor society. Joining NHS can be a worthwhile experience and it also looks good on your college resume.

Some other clubs that you should think about include debate club, math club, or computer club. If you like to join competitions and win prizes, then these clubs are definitely the right club for you. However, these clubs typically limit their members because they need to be small to go on trips to competitions. Be prepared for cuts or tryouts. These clubs are usually very competitive to get in. Be prepared to learn new things to join these clubs.

When you join a club, try to stick with it for your four years of high school. As you progress through high school try to gain leadership positions in the clubs you are in. For example, if you do the school newspaper, try to become editor in chief, and if you do student council, try to be student council president. Or if your on a sports team, try to be team captain by your senior year. To have fun in your clubs makes sure you are very involved in the activities. Try to help out at every club event and be active.

If there are no clubs that suit you, you can also form your own clubs. To do this, speak to your school principle. Forming a club can be a very good experience. Forming a new club develops your leadership and creative abilities. Sometimes forming a club is better than joining one. Since you formed the club, the club can do what you want.

In conclusion, joining clubs can be a worthwhile experience. They make school more fun and give you activities to look forward to. While clubs are good for you, don’t join too many. Doing so will make you too busy and you should only do a few clubs that really capture your interest. So pick the clubs that appeal to your interests and good luck.
