Today we had a DQB with the following question: "How did Roosevelt's administration respond to the problems of the Great Depression, and how sucessful were the actions? How did these change the role of government?"
I talked primarily about the New Deal programs, and how they were geared more in the "teaching a man to fish" direction than the "giving a man a fish" one. I also talked about FDR's attempted packing of the supreme court, and how the republican's back the national opinion in not allowing it, though later a middle groud was reached. I also noted a bit about the legislation to help the farmers, such as the McNary-Haugen Bill. In regard to the role of gov't, I basically said that it gave the government a more active, but moderated role in the lives of the people...
Given that we had 48 minutes, 15 of which was required planning time, how would you guys say I might have done? And what else could I have included/clarified/excluded?
