Despite the fact that my most recent post on course-notes.org discussed reasons  "why the infamous all-nighter is a terrible idea," I would like to share some advice for those of you that will, without a doubt, pull numerous all-nighters in the coming years.  

So you're procrastinator... The good news, so are millions of high school and college students across the country. By all accounts, you're not unique in your inability to get ahead on assignments and more often than not, you'll be "forced" to stay up late either cramming for an exam or attempting to complete a six page paper you were assigned more than a month ago.

While it's been years since I graduated high school back in 2007, my first-hand experience with the college application process remains vivid in my mind. Between the AP courses/tests, taking the SAT/ACT and the pressures to maintain a competitive GPA, the life of an ambitious high schooler is no doubt, stressful.

My name is Daniel Black and I graduated from Claremont McKenna College in May of 2011 as a dual-major in Economics and Government. I was fortunate enough to spend time working as a "Senior Interviewer" for the Admissions Office which provided me with the opportunity to interview a large number of prospective students. I know what colleges look for (and what turns them off), but more importantly, what steps you can take to distinguish yourself from the crowd.

When it comes to back to school shopping for freshman students there's no need to make a list with the obvious items like notebooks, pencils, erasers and pens. You probably have a whole drawer stuffed full of school supplies like those that you can re-use.

Going to college can be expensive, especially after the four or five years it takes you to finish your undergraduate degree. The average American student graduates from college owing $20,000 in debt. However, there are ways to make your college experience less of a financial burden, and applying for scholarships is a fantastic way to do so.

Some people emphasizes that the true human behavior emerges from the inclination to indulge in evil. Corruption has always dominantly manifested within humans in greed and deceit. People have to learn to be virtuous. Furthermore, it justifies the reason for the decadence and the crimes within society such as murder, rape, and thievery. Even throughout history, it has been documented that mankind has always been involved in warfare and conflicts.

A society exists as the representation of the unity created by the people. The communities are composed of many different individuals, yet similar as humans with the right for freedom. However, those who suffer from poverty or burdened by physical disabilities are recognized as weak and incapable. They epitomize the disadvantaged victims in the endeavor for survival and diminished into degrading inferiority… while in contrast, the rich dominate with accumulating wealth and in status authority.

Late night study sessions are quintessential aspects of high school. The terrifying sugar-induced rush, the stockpiles of coffee and soda, and the blaring music all lead to one thing: last-minute procrastination.

There is simply not enough time throughout the week or even in the day. Weekends are spent having fun, going to parties, and being lazy, not studying in a dark little room. But then, what time is left for schoolwork? A night is not infinite and we can’t all conjure up time-turners.

Remember in middle school, when you watched all of those movies about high school and just thought “wow, I’m going to go to high school and be so cool.”But then you got to high school and nobody was waiting for you outside of the church, you never had Saturday detention with five stereotypical kids, and you never took down John Tucker or the Plastics. So you aren’t as cool as the kids in the movies, and honestly, it kind of sucks. Trust me, I’m in the same boat as you.

The on-going liquidation of what’s left of America’s economy has been the primary focus of 2012’s presidential election, however, the final Romney-Obama debate held at Lynn University in Florida was centered around what is an abiding issue in American politics--foreign policy. To most, discussions regarding the failing economy are of utmost importance but one must not overlook the importance of safety and national security, which have regularly been the bone of contention to the American public.

Phrases to NEVER Use in An English Essay It is easy to fog the message your essay is trying to put across by using technical terms or fancy words. In reality, these technical terms you're using are probably being overused or used incorrectly, and the fancy words may be inefficient, or may not be real words at all. When writing a good English essay, it is important to remember that simplicity is key; get your message across and get it across well. Using fewer, simple words will likely make your essay stronger.
