i have an FRQ due on monday and it has to do with lasez faire and how it stimnulated the american economy. the time period is from 1861-1900

Don't worry about it being a DBQ, just start it out like a regular essay.
With a DBQ you are expected to tie the sources into your paper, but it doesnt make it any different from a regular paper. laissez faire is french for "leave alone". in the political sense it means that there was no regulation or control as to what major (or minor) companies could do. People such as Rockafeller...used this, until the sherman anti-trust act kicked some regulation onto them.does that help?

Alright, make sure to mention Adam Smith in your essay. He's the founder of pure capitalism (=laissez-faire). His ideas were that people were naturally greedy, and that people would produce things that were needed. If the gov't did nothing competition between businesses producing things in demand would start. All the gov't had to do would be to tax people making money and therefore they would make a profit. THe downside to this is that big businesses wind up controlling the country's wealth and doing whatever they want. Also it is impossible for a small business to grow. Marx's answer to the difficulties of the poor during the oppressive reign of capitalism was communism.
Lay Zay Faire, or however you want to spell it, is basically a free enterprise system where entrepreneurs, or businessmen entering into the world of free market, dominate the economy. I would advise a strong emphasis on the supposed lack of government interference and how that has shaped capitolism during the great depression and post WWII.
Why'd you spell it like that? and if you were trying to spell it wrong why not Lay Zay Fair?
