Morals?

Hey guys - For my summer assignment I have to discuss the morals of our government and how they have changed...if they have. I have to use primary documents to back up my ideas. If someone could just get me going and give me a place to start it would be much appreciated...I'm so lost!!

Thank you!

I don't know much about morals as applied to government, but I would think war issues might be a fairly easy path to go, or maybe look at presidential debates - for instance the lincoln douglas debates where they talked for like 4 hours about economic issues (if I'm not mistaken) versus today where we spend 4 hours talking about gay marriage and abortion and whether all candidates should wear flag pins. I suppose it might depend on which direction you want to take it...
