What is a DBQ really about??
Step One:
Remember to read the Prompt carefully
Determine what needs to be done…
Look for some grouping hints (economic, social, political, etc.)
Step Two:
Always read the documents (at least twice to make sure you understand the message given in each document)
Group the documents
Step Three:
Determine if the document has a Point of View (is it biased??)
Step Four:
Recollect any “outside information” you may know on the given subject (**outside information bags so many points for you, it shows that you know what you’re talking about!!)
Step Five:
Write a really original and breath-taking thesis
Remember that the readers only take quick glances at your DBQs and essays, So be straight forward
Be catchy…you’ll need to get their attention ^_^
*Extra Notes*
AP means to “Address the Prompt”
- My AP Euro Teacher (I took AP Euro last year and it was insane!!)
1. If mentioning dates: provide reasonable explanations for the times and places detailed during the time frame…
2. Have various approaches in mind, these prompts are open-ended!
3. Spend the time given WISELY! (Aka, monitor your time…)
4. Remember that you have to use “half + one” of the given number of documents!!! (i.e. given 12 documents, you must use at least 7 documents to get a good score.)
