Note: I do not endorse visiting either of the aforementioned places. Especially if you're in school.

Why GT over MIT you ask?
Well, for one there's the money. Hope scholarship pays for tuition as long as you keep a B average which is very nice. Plus other reasons along the lines of contact and friendliness and effort and all that. And yes, for enginneering it basically goes like this:
1. MIT
2. Cal Tech
3. GT
And of course it also depends on what you want to major in.
And that jazz band sounds like major fun...

Well this year I don't have to take a History final cause of the AP Exam exempting us in our school (assuming one has an 80% average). I also don't have to take a final for my Music Theory class cause I got straight A's in the class.
I only have to take three finals this year, Math, Science, and English!
xenahorse
05-17-2006, 01:56 AM

pianogirl2422

Our administrators won't let us exempt finals for AP tests in science. So I have AP chem, AP physics C, and chorus. Shouldn't be too hard though.
Shadow
05-19-2006, 03:49 PM
....chorus final?
pianogirl2422
05-19-2006, 10:59 PM
Yeah, just some stuff like "what's timbre" and "which note is a C". Since I've been in chorus since 4th grade and piano since 2nd, it's taken me like 10 minutes every year. And that's only because the listening portion goes sooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooowly.
xenahorse
05-20-2006, 12:21 AM
Hehe, pianogirl.
Well, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! School's OUT! The finals I had today were the hardest of the testing, but I'm pretty sure that I managed to do pretty well. The APUSH test was ridiculiously easy; there was a question that had a qoute from the Dec of Independance, and asked what the document was, then later, who wrote it! And on the essays, one of the questions showed a famous picture of the Boston Tea Party, in daylight, and asked what was historicly incorrect with the pic. AP Chem, on the other hand, was hard. I managed to get a 73% on the test, but I'm not sure if that's with or without a curve. Still, considering that the testing average is normally around 65, that's pretty good....
sorry, just rambleing on. Now that I have no tests to study for, I'm not quite sure what to do....maybe I'll sleep. Haven't done that for a while. Yes, I rather think that would be nice....
Shadow
05-20-2006, 12:55 PM

Wow, my orchestra teacher tried to give a test once, and we all rebelled so bad that she didn't ever try again.
Listening tests SUCK. I am so terrible at them. In theory they're all like "what's this interval if the first note in an E flat?" and then sings it. And I'm like "gahhhh. my ears suck!"
And questions like What's timbre are nice and easy :) I can do written theory like a freakin ninja, but aural theory I suck at.
pianogirl2422
05-20-2006, 11:50 PM
Sorry to hear that shirtninja. My ears are what got me a place with my first piano teacher. She was impressed that I could play "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" just from hearing it. I've gotten better. Tonal memory is still the best part of my All-State audition :D . I can repeat anything and I can even tell when people are off pitch even the tiniest bit. Of course the written part isn't hard either considering i've had more or less the same test all four years of high school.

Psh, Helpful Mod...I'm helpful, in my own sweet way :)
And for the record, i wasn't around much this week cause I'm at the Philadelphia University of the Arts and it's freaking hardcore all day long. I get up at 6am, catch the train at 7:30, am in classes/ensembles till 5, then practicing and taking the train home. I don't get home till like 8-9. Then when I get home, i practice guitar some more till I pass out and sleep. Then I start again the next day.

Anyways, in the past few days without internet life has suddenly become interesting. There's a senior at my college who can't wait to show me around campus (hope he's cute...), my dad seems to have gone through a major transformation-paying things early, actually calling me, wanting to see me frequently, it's kinda strange really, and my brother just got back from Alaska saying that even after almost falling into a huge, deep crevice and coming face to face (mere inches apart) to an angry grizzly bear with nothing but a water pail after his partner ran off with his mace (and to think he's uninsured) he can't wait to go back and do it again. Well, at least he's got a brighter outlook on his life and is excited about something. So, yeah, it's been a strange few days...
Shadow

Well hopefully other things will change Xena....like the freaking oversized staff list. *coughs and points at chris* But that's something I want, not something that is in stone.

Shadow
08-22-2006, 05:24 PM
lol, my AIM profile is full of star wars quotes cause my buddies and I quote it non-stop :)
I've seen all the star wars movies so many times it's not even funny anymore =)
"When I last faced you I was but the learner, now I am the master" - Darth Vader
"Your overconfidence is your weakness" - Luke
"Your faith in your friends is yours." - Palpatine (Who turned 62 last week, the actor, that is)
"I've got a bad feeling about this" - Everyone at some point or another
"What a wonderful new smell you've discovered!" - Leia in the trash compactor
"Where's it going?"
"It's heading for that small moon."
"That's no moon...that's a space station."
"It can't be, that's to big to be a space station." - Obi-Wan and Han Solo
"That's not true! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!" - Luke
"So....you have sister, your feelings have betrayed her too. If you will not join the dark side, perhaps she will." - Vader, who is summarily owned by luke
I don't know too many funny ones, oh, except:
"I love you!" - Leia
"I know" - Han, as he is being inserted into the carbon freeze chamber
My senior quote is probably going to be from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
xenahorse
08-23-2006, 02:54 AM
I was actually considering when Leia shouts "Get this walking carpet outta my way!" to Han. But now maybe I'll use the trash compactor one...

Thanks, Shadow!

What is the deal with sleep, anyways? Come on, we waste so much time just being passed out, unconsious of what's going on around us. What a waste of time! When I think of all the tings I need to do, sleep seems like such a waste....
If you got a lady and you want her gone/ but you ain't got the guts. Nagging on you night and day/enough to drive you nuts. Pick up the phone, I'm always home....Dirty deeds and they're done dirt cheap!

Precisely. For some odd reason it's called L-E-C-T-U-R-E........wonder what that means....

er, congrats! From what I remember of you last year, Shadow, you don't really like much of a fuss at all...
I got off the last plane um two/three hours ago from flying all day long, and getting up an hour too early (never travel on daylight savings time). Oh, and my bags haven't made it in yet....but I did get to see the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame! Oh yeah!
And my bags have all my hhomework in them. Wheee

Disposible cameras suck, and baking 5 pies in 4 hours is just deppressing. I have no life.

I'm so busy these days I hardly have any time to post. I normally swing by and see if theirs any new posts and then go off to do some more work or practice.
Way to have a Bebop avatar by the way. I have 3 DVDs of that show.

I'm the same as Shadow. I think I'm averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night and 1.5 meals a day. I'm soooooo looking forward to Thanksgiving, even though I'm still going to be studying my brains out and there probably won't be any food in my house. But hey, a bed that I don't have to climb up to, OMG! What a luxury.

Man, I'm glad I'm not a mod. Sounds like ya'll have got the sleepless nights. But with finals (projectwise, and others) coming up, I rarely have time to call mine own!
And thanks, Shadow. BeBOp is awesome.
I've had so much going on lately that it's not funny. Many, like pianogirl, sleepless nights have arisen.

Nah, it's not the modding, it's the classes and the personal issues and the family issues and blah blah blah. But hey, it's the holidays now, maybe my luck will change. In the past three days I have had little sleep, less food, my cieling has leaked, my mom got mad at me, major stress for classes, and my computer overheated and must be taken to the shop...right before finals too, yippee (if you can't sense the sarcasm there....well....you've got no sense at all for that type of thing.) So yes, I'm planning on studying hard over the break, catching up on mod stuff, and getting some rest!

Look at the bright side of things: college students get a long Christmas break, and finals are over and done with early! That means you'll get to sleep, right?

Heh, yeah right! Over Christmas break I'll be working. That means alot of 6am-2pm shifts and 4:30am-2:00pm shifts.

Something I'm starting to think that is way too much of a bother.
I'm also working during the Christmas break, but dunno what time shifts I'll be pulling. Probably early ones....like you, What.
