Yeah it's one after another. It sucks.
Plus we don't have school (like tomorrow), which would be good exept it means when we get back we get like 3x the normal work to catch up

Also, it's not like you can hang out with friends or anything because no one's parents would let anyone go out.
Plus, we usually lose power and that means no internet, no tv, no nothing

Armando
09-20-2005, 05:07 PM
Do you mean why don't we evacuate or why don't we leave the state and move?
I'm assuming it's the first and the reason is because it's only category 1.

Tropical Storm Rita is currently located at 24.0N 82.2 W moving W at 15mph. Current wind speeds are sustained around 100 mph with an estimated minimum central pressure of 973mb making Rita a category 2 hurricane. Hurricane warnings and watches are up for southern Florida panhandle, Key West, and Cuba. They should be dropped as Rita exits.
Rita is expected to continue movement in a generally WNW direction (270-330). Rita is entering a favorable environment for development and that is the reason for the forecasted continued development over the next couple of days. Conditions currently are favorable in the Gulf with little in the way of shear and plenty of warm water to work with and no large landmasses to interact with Rita. Expect Rita to gain category 3 or major hurricane status by Wednesday.
We expect Rita to turn more northerly or maintain a more northerly component during the day Thursday as a trough in the central United States interacts with Rita. This feature will ultimately be responsible for the turn of the hurricane as it interacts with this feature and gets caught or tugged by the trough north. We also expect the high associated with the ridge to kick out or start to do so as the trough moves east Wednesday and into Thursday. It is within this time that as the high slides east that the storm will be able to be pulled north in association with the trough and heat ridge. The strength of the trough and speed will ultimately determine at what exact point in time this occurs. If the trough is weak then it won’t have much effect on the cane as the upper level winds will be the dominant steering force however if the trough is strong and fast this could result in a quicker turn in a northerly direction (330-30). The trough could result in some weakening.
At what point in time the trough interacts with the hurricane and how strong it is significantly effects the forecasted path. If the trough is strong and fast then it will allow for a quicker turn sliding around the high and almost due north. In actuality this is similar to Katrina because a trough forced Katrina to turn almost due north at a point just east of New Orleans. With Rita the situation is similar. At what point the trough interacts with the hurricane may ultimately result in the area due north of the cane feeling the effects however in this case New Orleans will most likely not be effected. It is possible also however that the trough is very weak and slow this may result in a further west tract and then a slight turn towards the north not to the extent of the effect that a strong trough would have this is the more favored option. This would result in a further west location and then a slight turn towards more of the NW or NNW (290-340).
It seems almost inevitable that Rita will effect the United States Gulf Coast once again and most likely as a powerful major hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale with winds in excess of 111mph and storm surge exceeding 9-11 ft. The areas right now that we feel are in the possible strike zone extend from Corpus Christi, TX to Port Arthur, TX. It is imperative that those along the Gulf Coast in threatened aforementioned areas stay abreast of the forecast and monitor the situation so that they will be prepared for the possibility of a major hurricane making landfall. More updates through the next days.

What is sad is they're trying to evacuate New Orleans anyway to get them out of the sewage (from what I have heard, forgive any misinformation) and are having a hard time of it, so to get them out faster because of a new hurricane seems impossible to me.

ok i know this may sound sorta blunt, but if ur gonna be hit by a hurricane then by all means, GET THE HECK OUTA THERE!!!!!!! i do feel compassion towards those lost in katrina and those who lost their homes. but theirs no need for more to die. hope u stay safe angelk16 and that your area doesnt end up being hit.
Armando
09-27-2005, 07:48 PM
Well keep in mind EVERYONE was trying to get out, which meant NO ONE got out.
Plus, most of the people were dirt poor, most didn't own a car and those who did couldn't afford gas.

09-27-2005, 07:53 PM
true, but then you get the people who said, yeah we heard one was coming, but we decided not to go. or even worse, the people who are in their really flooded homes because their too stubborn to leave. im just talkin about the people who stayed on their own will even though they knew the danger. the people who couldnt, thats a different story.

Because they have too much of an ego and they think they can ride it out.
They need to learn that mother nature is insuperable.

09-29-2005, 09:06 PM
well they should take their live into perspective, drop their pride, and stop worrying about their materialistic stuff.
angelk16

oh well, all im saying is they should really be thinking right at a time like this. a normal functional thinking process is need during these dark times. most people dont realize that.

Well not all people think the same. You must see it from THEIR point of view. It's called fundamental observation error. ;)

It's so weird that the press has not covered this storm as much as the others. They are all bad. Good luck to anyone affected.
