Synthetic Division Print E-mail

Synthetic Division:

ex.
divide (2x4- 5x3+ 7x2+ 3x + 2) by (x - 3)

In the divisor, use 3 instead of -3, so that addition is used instead of subtraction.

The last row indicate a quotient of 2x3 + x2 + 10x + 33 with remainder 101

ex.

divide 3x3 - 4x + 3 by (x + 1), using synthetic division.
3x- 4x + 3 is equal to 3x+ 0x- 4x + 3

The solution is 3x2 - 3x -1 remainder 4.
