AP World History Book Review

Subject: AP World History
Brand/Edition: Princeton Review (2009)
Pros: Very concise information pertinent to the AP exam, with excellently organized chapters and units within specific time spans.
Cons: Not good to rely on solely, if self-studying for the exam. This is because FRQs require some more detail and background information to do more solidly on test day.
Overview: I used this to prep for my 2009 AP World History exam and I have to see that I felt very confident even after the break at my test center! This book helped summarize the vast amount of history that can happen in thousands of years. The two practice exams were also very good. The first one was rough, partially because I was nervous and used it as a diagnostic test. The second, however, resulted in leaps and bounds in my score.
Tips for this book: Give yourself at least a month to completely read this book. Even though it says it has the chapters divided so you can review only your “rusty areas”, I am sure that with thousands of years of history on your back, there are bound to be some details you either have forgotten or missed completely. The two practice exams given in the back of this book are pure gold, with the similar format to the real exam, all the way to the similar questions and free-response questions [FRQs].
